People in Organisations Course Why do people in organisations feel and act in the way they do? What are the factors which influence the behaviour of people in organisations and hence what factors affect the operation of the organisation as a whole? How can organisations be designed and managed in order to influence people's behaviour and therefore to ensure more successful organisations? People in organisations is concerned with explaining organisations, both the general and the particular. For instance it is interested in developing general theories of decision-making or leadership or communications which might apply broadly to all organisations. Beyond this it is concerned with particularly the exploration of organisations by developing models which account for differences between organisations and which therefore can provide a more detailed framework for helping managers, and others, to influence organisational outcomes. In this course you will come across a wide range of theories and ideas which provide general and particular accounts of organisations.
