Content
The BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts - Performance, consists of two core double units plus four specialist units, and has been designed to provide preparation for employment or progression on to a Level 3 National Diploma programme of study in a specialist area of your choice. The core unit, Performing Arts Production Process is taught in conjunction with other units; including Performing Arts Business, to create a production for the final major project. The choice of specialist units will cover the vocational areas of Acting, Understanding Drama, Performing Dance and Performing Scripted Plays. You will acquire skills in performing, devising and technical production through a variety of challenging practical activities.

As well as providing a sound understanding of the Performing Arts through participation and theory, you will also have the opportunity to participate in visiting practitioners workshops, performances and theatre trips.

Assessment All assessment is based on achievement of specified outcomes. All units, both core and specialist, involve either internal or external assessment and will be awarded Pass, Merit or Distinction. Internal assessment will be carried out by your tutors to ensure that effective learning of the unit content has taken place. Progression This course will prepare you for entry to employment in the performing arts sector or to advanced study on the BTEC National Diploma in Performance, AS Levels in Drama and Theatre Studies, Dance or Media.
