This one year course will give you the knowledge and skills in a range of subjects including dance, drama and singing.
The course has a practical focus and you will take part in a variety of performance projects. You will also tour a production to the local community as part of your final project.

About this course

Students who successfully complete the course will be in a position to progress on to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. Alternatively students could access a range of courses at Level 3.

A willingness to participate in performance activities is essential. GCSE experience in dance, drama or music would be an advantage.

Course programme

The course is delivered in units and through larger practical projects. A large proportion of the work undertaken is of a practical nature and is assessed continuously. There are no examinations on this course.

Students are required to be in the classroom for a minimum of 15 hours a week. This can vary from term to term. At particular times during the year students may be engaged in activities for the whole week and occasionally during the evenings.

Additional information

Students are given the opportunity to experience a variety of performances and to take part in workshops with professional performers. Students will need to purchase black performance clothes to take part in practical sessions. Course fees of £150 cover theatre trips and workshops
