Course description If you're looking towards a successful future in the professional dance world, this BTEC Extended Diploma is the ideal course to develop your artistic, creative and practical skills and find out more about working in the industry. This is a very practical qualification, designed to introduce you to some of the styles, skills and techniques you'll need to enjoy a rewarding career in dance, with a focus on some of the most current, highly-relevant trends in the industry at the moment, like Urban(Street) Dance, Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Contemporary. You'll also study for an additional qualification with the ISTD at Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate level as part of the course, as well as taking a closer look at the varying styles of different choreographers and practitioners like Diaghilev, Martha Graham, Wayne McGregor, and Cunningham. From a focus on fitness and anatomy, to preparations for auditions, the whole course will help you understand and succeed in this business!

3. Entry requirements You'll need to be able to join in with all practical classes, and have the ability to pick up choreography and sequences without too much trouble. You should also have at least 5 GCSE grades at A*-C including either English or Maths. Assessment method A mixture of written coursework and practical performances will make up your assessment for this course, with all written work embedded into your final practical portfolio. Alongside the performances and demonstrations of your skills, you may complete some research pieces in dance theory, dance companies, or famous choreographers. You might also be required to keep a log book or diary of your development through the course.
