Programme Description:
This course is designed to build skills across a spectrum of areas. Equivalent to 2 GCSEs and focusing on developing Acting and Dance technique, learners will also complete Production Arts and Singing units.
Students will be involved in a variety of performance projects working on their acting, singing and dance skills which will be integrated into their core units as a shared assessment. Students have also had the opportunity to take part in the annual production demonstrating their musical theatre singing skills.
A number of trips and college visits are timetabled into the calender allowing the students to see a variety of professional and HE productions. Occasionally, workshops are organised that allow the learner to be instructed by professionals working in the industry.
As part of the programme learners will also complete the National (Level 2) Welsh Baccalaureate Post 16 Qualification. Opportunities will also be provided to study GCSEs in English and Mathematics or re-sits for those who have not attained these with a 'C' grade or higher.

Progression and Employment:
BTEC Level 2 Extended certificate offers direct progression (through interview and audition) on to BTEC Level 3 programmes. On completion of a BTEC Level 3, students can progress on to a foundation degree, honours degree programme and/or drama school. A BTEC Level 2 also gives students other skills such as communication, confidence, problem solving, team building and self awareness.

Programme Content:
Individual showcase, Preparation, Performance and Production, The Performing Arts Industry, Acting Skills, Musical Theatre Skills, Movement Skills, Voice and Speech for Performers, Performing Scripted Plays, Exploring Urban Dance Styles, Design Planning for Performance.
Students will also study the National (Level 2) Welsh Baccalaureate Post 16 qualification, this will be integrated into the main programme of study.
