About this course

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above is required. You will be invited to attend a welcome event and an audition: this is to support your careers choice and ensure that we place you on the right programme.



Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Course programme

Year 1

The emphasis of this course is about the development of your skills, techniques, and performance qualities. You will study a broad variety of skills which will include units in singing, musical theatre performance, jazz dance, principles of acting, and ballet. Alongside the coursework there are abundant opportunities to perform in musical theatre shows and events including professional cabaret evenings, charity concerts, ceremonies, flash mob events and Christmas carol concerts. Professional performers visit us frequently to take West End musical theatre workshops and master classes.

Year 2

Additional information

Assessment is via coursework and performance. You will need to evidence in your work that your skills and understanding are sufficient to pass each unit or achieve higher grades. Your assignments are assessed internally by the College and standards are verified by Edexcel. You will be assessed practically and theoretically though a variety of ways including rehearsal, performance, workshops, journals, projects, portfolios, blogs, presentations and essays.
