Summary
Students work towards the University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts. This qualification is an outstanding foundation for higher level study within the department.
This course is vocational which means students will undertake the role of a performer throughout the year. Study is primarily practical and linked to the theoretical aspects of the specific discipline. The course includes modules in industry related business and staging public performances. Subject specific united related to each performance discipline are also delivered. In total students will work towards a minimum of three public projects including: touring, comedy and devising & script work. Students will participate in public performances and become part of our theatre company, Platform Productions. The company’s artistic policy is to provide theatre of the highest quality within the local community and beyond. Platform Production embraces the talents of young people and provides a hub for learning and training & development. Key tasks during the course include:
Learning lines and rehearsing.
Researching or undertaking activities to help prepare for a part.
Discussing interpretation and delivery with other members of the company and the director.
Performing for a live audience.
Performing in a theatre “on location”.
Audio as well as visual performance.
Rehearse/polish performances in your own time.
Managing the day-to-day running of the theatre, including “front of house” duties.
Students will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment and also be able to attend rehearsals and performances, some of which will be during the evening.
