About this course

Learners can apply at any time between the ages of 16-19. There are no formal entry requirements. Each prospective student will have an interview and a taster course to assess their individual learning needs.

The Programme
The programmes are for students with severe learning difficulties. Learners are supported by lecturers and learning support staff at all times during their college day.
Learners can apply at any time between the ages of 16-19 and if accepted will join an age appropriate year:
Equivalent school year 12 - Enters year 1 Pre-Vocational Life Skills
Equivalent school year 13 - Enters year 2 Pre-Vocational Life Skills
Equivalent school year 14 - Enters year 3 Pre-Vocational Life Skills
The Programme Content
The courses enable students to maximise their learning potential and develop skills to prepare them more fully for life by using dedicated base rooms and wider college facilities. A broad based curriculum is offered including Personal and Social Development, Functional skills and Vocational skills. There are flexible links with other programmes where appropriate. A full learner review is held each year which includes input from relevant external agencies.
Progression / Careers
Students may move to other supported learning provision depending on their individual progress. Progression routes will be discussed at the annual learner reviews.
