We have two different entry routes. Our Academic Entry Route requires you to have an undergraduate degree from an approved institution equivalent to a UK Honours degree (or a relevant professional qualification). For our Work Experience Entry Route, you must have at least five years' senior level work experience. For both entry routes, if English is not your first language, your English ability should be equivalent to an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0.

What I would highlight: Essex has a great community feel with something always going on. Despite the fact that Colchester town is not that great for going out, campus has a pretty good club which will satisfy your clubbing needs! In terms of education.

Course programme

The Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology and Criminal Psychology is made up of the following modules and, upon completion, is equal to a total of 120 credits at Level 7.

Level 7 modules:

  • Applied Forensic Psychology (20 credits)
  • Crime, Causation and Criminological Theory (20 credits)
  • Complex Criminal investigations (20 credits)
  • Practical Psychology for Policing (20 credits)
  • Advanced Research Methods (20 credits)*
  • One optional module from the list below

Optional modules:
  • Criminal Victimisation (20 credits)
  • Policing: Leadership, Policy & Partnerships (20 credits)
