Fact file UCAS code W1X1 Length 1 year Entry requirements A good honours degree in an appropriate Art and Design strand (2:2 or above) , English, and maths at GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent for Secondary (11-18), and to have passed the government's skills test in literacy and numeracy.A commitment to becoming the best teacher you can be, with a minimum of 10 days recent experience in a UK secondary school. If you cannot spend the full 10 days in a secondary school prior to application we can still consider your application as long as you have spent 5 days in a secondary classroom. If you are successful in being offered a place on the course the additional 5 days would be a condition of your offer and would need to be undertaken prior to starting on the course. Course programme

As Mark Rothko said “Art is an adventure into the unknown world, which can be explored only by those willing to take risks.” The 11-18 in Art and Design reflects this philosophy through a rigorous and imaginative,innovative and intensive nine month course preparing graduates for the challenges and rewards of teaching Art and Design within the Secondary sector in the artist/teacher model. You will be awarded a PGCE and recommended for Qualified Teacher Status, enabling you to teach in schools. In addition to our graduates finding employment teaching in schools in England and Wales a number of have gone on to teach in schools in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Oman, China, Tanzania, New Zealand and Australia. The course is organised in partnership with schools around Kent and Medway (and towards London) and your teaching practices with be across two contrasting placements.
