-Predicted grades of Ds and Cs, 4s and 5s and above
-Having only 1 or 2 GCSEs achieved at B/6 grade or higher

Summary

This course gives a concentrated one-year programme for students who need to improve their GCSEs in order to access A-levels and HE. Reach for your highest ambitions in this bespoke course aimed at prospective A-level and Access students who want to improve their grades, had difficulty in taking exams, or have international qualifications that are not accepted by UK Sixth Form colleges. You will be supported and challenged by highly qualified teaching staff to attain good grades. Students will meet Sixth Form staff and students for taster sessions to better prepare for Sixth Form.

Students on Phoenix Aspire will complete a selection of 4 GCSEs, including English and Maths if they do not have it at a C or 4 grade. There is a provision for students to complete 5 GCSEs if students have not taken any GCSEs before but show academic promise. Alongside academic study, you will develop vital learning skills such as independent study, revision and proactivity in your education.

Science (Core Science, Additional Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSEs)

Media Studies

Additional information

Progression Students who achieve a minimum of 5 A*-C/9-5 GCSEs, with a minimum points score of 5.0, can progress onto Sixth Form courses. Students who wish to do Science or Maths A-levels will be required to achieve A*-B/ in Maths and their chosen Science subjects. If students are over 19 after finishing Phoenix Aspire they may wish to progress onto Access to HE courses.
