As the field of photography gains increased recognition within the art world and provides a foundation in the history of the medium, from the experiments carried out in the nineteenth century by pioneers such as Daguerre and Talbot to the work of their celebrated successors, Beaton, Horst and Testino.

The series of lectures examines the way in which new methods of photography have been utilised by key practitioners, tracing its development from a simple means of recording the physical world to its current status as an influential and moving art form in its own right.
