Photoshop for Fashion Designers (Intermediate)

One evening a week, 6.30 - 9pm, for 6 weeks

Suitable for those with some previous experience of Photoshop software, this course is run at the FTM in a brand-new purpose built learning centre equipped with the latest software and facilities.

Developed to meet the specific needs of designers working in the fashion, textiles and jewellery sectors, tuition is in small groups with a focus on your particular learning requirements.

The course fee is £100 for 15 hours tuition over 6 weeks 6.30 - 9pm on Tuesdays.

This course will give you skills and confidence in using Photoshop software to develop more complex designs and presentational material. Aimed at designers who have a basic working knowledge of Photoshop, the course will improve your use of the Pen tool so that you are able to create complex fashion illustrations or textile designs.

The course is run at the Fashion Textile Museum SE1 in a purpose-built learning centre fully equipped with the latest facilities and software, and tuition is in small groups with a focus is on your particular learning requirements. The Photoshop Intermediate course includes the following topics:

session 2 - Fashion Promo Flyer
• Creating a photo montage
• Use of extraction tool
• Layer masks
• Blending modes
• Application of text to image
• Adjustment layers
• Applying layer styles

session 3 - Enhancing Fashion Illustrations
• Creating a plaid pattern
• Applying pattern to illustration
• Use of Quick-masks
• Layer masks
• Blending modes
• De-saturation

session 4 - Cloning Around
• Getting to grips with the clone tool
• Modifying a fabric design, illustration and a photograph using the clone tool

session 5 - Inserting graphics into Word processing packages
• Creating Graphic/Logo in Photoshop
• Saving in appropriate file format
• Importing into word
• Editing Graphic

session 6 - Create a Look Book
• Culmination of all topics covered in previous sessions
