Course Description

Learn beyond the basics of Photoshop with image manipulation, combined techniques and more advanced image-creation.

Photoshop is the industry leading graphics package, made by Adobe. It is invaluable for print and web work and has excellent pixel-editing and image adjustment tools, effects filters, text editing and layer options. Photoshop has an amazing array of features which can be combined to produce extremely original artwork.

Course Topics

Day One:

Channels:

• Using channels for selections and effects
• Adding spot colour channels
• Creating Alpha channels.

Layer Techniques:

• Applying masks to combine layers
• Layer modes
• Colour adjustment layers
• Clipping groups.

Colour Modes:

• Changing between colour modes
• Preparing for print
• Creating Multichannels and duotones.

Day Two

Paths:

• Drawing vector based paths with the pen tool
• Using paths to paint, fill and select pixels.

Selection Techniques:

• Quickmask
• Making selections based on colour.

Painting Effects:

• Rotating, resizing and distorting parts of an image
• Making custom patterns
• Making custom brushes
• Applying filters.

Save For Web:

• Export images optimised for use on web pages.
