Our physical education and sport degree teaches you the principles of teaching and coaching. The main disciplines include sport psychology, sport and exercise physiology, sociology of sport, and sport policy and development. By participating in athletics, dance, games, gymnastics, outdoor and adventurous activities and swimming, you will explore the practical areas of the national curriculum for PE.

This degree will develop your contemporary knowledge and understanding of PE and sport, as well as relevant skills for a range of sport-related careers. It is taught at Avery Hill Campus, home to our extensive sports facilities and where most of our student sports take place.

About this course

As part of your degree, you will have the opportunity to complete a sport-related work placement so you can put into practice the skills you will be developing during your time with us.

Our degree provides not only activity-based training but also vital theoretical courses. Here, you will discover the principles of teaching and coaching with courses related to sport policy, practice and development. You will also examine the scientific, psychological and sociological aspects of the subject.

04 UCAS points from A-levels, with no more than 12 points should come from AS-levels.

PLUS at least three GCSEs including English Language or Literature and Mathematics with a minimum of grade 4/C or recognised equivalent are required.

What you should know about this course
Our campus is home to excellent facilities including an indoor AstroTurf airdome, sports hall and strength and conditioning lab.
We’re one of the few London universities with extensive sports facilities on campus.
Students studying this course can expect to earn up to £30,000 on graduation (HESA, 2020).
If you are an elite sportsperson you could win a scholarship, named after our Olympic gold medal-winning alumna Ann Packer, worth up to £4,000 a year.
