The pickaxe is the worker who works with the pickaxe, a manual tool used to break up hard soils and rocks; it is also used to break down walls, walls and other solid and massive material. It consists of a part of sturdy metal (steel) slightly curved, ending with two points or with a pointed end and the other cut, fixed to a sturdy wooden handle (oak, cherry, boxwood or gaggia). It is used in many sectors, including construction (where shovel and pickaxe were the typical tools of the laborer), the mining industry, road construction and agriculture. Currently, in the most demanding applications, it is often replaced by the more modern pneumatic hammer and its use is increasingly reduced to maintenance works, gardening and small jobs.
