Established in 1999 by Michael King, Nuala Coombs and Malcolm Muirhead, the Pilates Institute has grown into the largest Pilates teacher training company in the UK. Now internationally recognised, the Pilates Institute’s Method and Teacher Training programmes are taught in over 25 countries worldwide.The Pilates Institute is actively involved with the Pilates Standards worldwide and its tutors are dedicated to continuing Joseph Pilates’ innovative work while also utilising current research to develop the best practices.In 2004 work began on the Level 3 Matwork qualification with Skills Active and the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS). Pilates Institute, together with other recognised Pilates training providers in the UK, worked to create the new standard which was launched in September 2005.The Pilates Institute values growth, development and open-minded education for all their students.
