Pixel-Based Imaging (Photoshop) ABC

College Title: ABC level 3 award in Pixel - Based Image Manipulation

This course offers a range of digital skills from scanning to using layers and selection tools. There are opportunities to correct colour, clone and prepare pixel based images for print output or for screen based presentation. A must for anyone interested in image manipulation +/or construction using photoshop.

Entry Requirements

• No formal qualifications are necessary but attendance of "Photoshop for Beginners" would be advantageous if you are totally unfamiliar with the software.
• A basic level of computer literacy is recommended as well as having completed Full Time education up to the age of 14
• An informal interview / guidance with the tutor is advisable.

Course Content

• Use of a range of tools and palettes for image control and manipulation
• Effective selection and layering techniques
• Acquiring and storing digital images
• Production of a range of images demonstrating use of manipulation processes
• Practical emphasis / work on own images and/or supplied images

How will I be assessed?

Production of a portfolio, which should include:

• Examples of technical exercises using various tools and functions of photoshop
• Evaluative notes
• Examples of resolved digital images that have undergone a range of manipulation processes

What can I do next?

Provides student with opportunities to progress on to other computer design courses.

Additional costs Students will be required to provide a suitable portfolio file / sketched pad and a CD-RW to save and present work for assessment.
