About this course
Standard entry to this course is one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance in your last place of study or work. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 3 or above (D), plus an additional two GCSE’s grade 3 (D) or above including a Technology/Design based subject.
Students who previously studied with us will need to have attained a level 1 diploma in a craft-based subject, plus maths and English at grade 2 minimum or the equivalent functional skills.

Course programme
Year 1
The level 2 qualification typically comprises the following core units: health, safety and welfare in construction (this unit can be carried forward from level 1); and principles of building construction, information and communication. The following subject specialist units are also studied: applying plastering materials to interiors; fix dry lining and plasterboard to interiors; laying sand and cement screeds; applying plastering materials to external backgrounds.
