About this course

Ideally, maths and English GCSEs at grade D (3) /E (2) or higher or an equivalent qualification are required. In order to be selected for this apprenticeship, you will need to have a passion for working in a hands-on environment within this exciting trade. Finally, you must have the drive to complete the demands of the apprenticeship course and become a skilled worker. You will also need to demonstrate commitment to learning while working and spending 20 of your working hours completing off-the-job training.

Course programme

Year 1

You will acquire knowledge and skills for, safe working practices, information, quantities and communication, building methods and construction technology. The application of external surfaces, fixing, dry lining and plasterboard to interiors, form sand and cement screeds, produce plaster components, position and secure fibrous plaster components, apply plaster to internal surfaces.

Year 2

You will learn how to apply what you have learned in the college environment to your working environment. You will be required to build an NVQ portfolio and demonstrate your knowledge and skills to your dedicated Trainer Assessor.

Additional information

Assessment for this apprenticeship is a blend between a portfolio of evidence gathered at work and practical and theory assessments carried out within the college environment. This will involve college attendance and you will also be regularly visited at work by your industry expert Trainer Assessor from Leicester College, who will support you to achieve the standard required.
