Its designed to provide high quality training for young people, through work based training and study in our professional teaching facility. If you want to learn about plumbing skills, including hot and cold water, heating, sanitation and drainage then this course is ideal for you.

Entry Requirements
Entry requirements vary for each level and course. Most apprenticeships are accessible with 2 Grade Ds at GCSE. You will be considered on an individual basis where these requirements are not met.

Course Duration
2 years to complete Intermediate level. Please note: It can take up to 4 years to complete both the Intermediate and Advanced level Apprenticeships in this industry.

Skills and Benefits
Throughout the course you will follow a learning plan that sets targets and checks your progress. You will be allocated an expert training advisor, who will guide you during your programme and help you to decide what do after you have finished your training.

Understand and carry out safe working practises in Building Services Engineering Understand how to communicate with others within Building Services Engineering Understand how to apply environmental protection measures within Building Services Engineering Understand how to apply scientific principles within Mechanical Services Engineering Understand and carry out site preparation, and pipework fabrication techniques for domestic plumbing and heating systems Understand and apply domestic cold water system installation and maintenance techniques Understand and apply domestic central system installation and maintenance techniques Apply safe working practices in Building Services Engineering working environment. Install and maintain domestic heating systems

Optional Units
There are no optional units on this qualification.

Course Assessment
Through a portfolio of evidence and observations in the workplace, and in some cases there are timed written assessments. You will work towards a QCF, diploma and functional skills where appropriate. You will also be expected to complete the Employer Rights and Responsibilities framework.

Progression
You can progress on to Stockport College's Advanced Apprenticeship programme, which will allow you go gain additional qualifications in GAS ACS CCN1, Water Regulations, Energy Efficiency AND Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems and onto further Higher Education study.
