PhD Courses: Units- POLI SCI 403 Introduction to Probability and Statistics*: 1
- POLI SCI 405 Linear Models*: 1
- Courses approved by the Director of Graduate Studies: 16
Total Required Units: 18
*(Political Theory students are occasionally exempt from the requirement to take POLI SCI 403 and 405.)
Other PhD Degree Requirements- Research Paper Requirement: Scholarly paper in second year
- Examinations: written qualifying examinations on student's major and minor fields,
- Prospectus: dissertation research design presented during the quarter after passing qualifying examination; dissertation based on independent research
- Final Evaluations: oral defense of dissertation
- Other: teaching requirement begins in second year in an undergraduate course
