As well as detailed knowledge of forms of conflict and how politics and political negotiation attempt to render violent conflict unnecessary, the course provides graduates with the generic skills of critical inquiry, the ability to undertake close textual analysis and the ability to demonstrate knowledge and present coherent arguments in a number of forms. As well as specific subject knowledge, graduates will develop a wide range of transferable skills including technological proficiency as reflected in the subject and university commitment to blended learning.

About this course

At the completion of the course the student will;

Be able to identify and critically compare concepts and methodologies used in Politics
Be familiar with the major ideological traditions in Politics
Be aware of the different conceptualisations of citizenship within the global community
Have an awareness and understanding of the strategic, ethical and philosophical theories underpinning War Studies;
Have an understanding of the varieties of approaches to analysing the concept of war and war’s implications
Be able to apply his/ her critical and analytic skills in an enterprising manner.

Access to HE Diploma full award (Pass of 60 credits - of which a minimum of 45 credits must be at level 3 including 18 at Merit or Distinction).
