Course Overview:
This course is aimed at managers, engineers, technicians, appointed individuals or persons involved in the health and safety aspects of electrical equipment. The course is based on the IEE Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment and covers the law and the scope of legislation for the testing of electrical equipment.
The course covers the theory and practice of portable appliance testing (PAT) and the management of electrical equipment leading to the City & Guilds 2377 examinations.
This three day course covers everything necessary to successfully achieve City & Guilds certification enabling you to manage and undertake portable appliance testing.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification. However, centres must ensure that candidates have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification.
It is expected that candidates will have basic knowledge of electrical science and be capable of using Ohm’s Law and basic calculations, though these areas are covered to some extent on the course.

Course Delivery:
The content is a blend of theoretical and practical activities with on-line assessments on the last day.
There are two multi-choice examinations:
- City & Guilds 2377 –32 Certificate of Competent Management of Electrical Equipment
- City & Guilds 2377 –22 Certificate of Competence for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
