During the five day course, the students will learn and apply the fundamental principles of representational drawing and various charcoal application techniques, creating a finished portrait drawing from scratch. The course will also familiarise students with the sight-size method as an efficient way of measuring and assessing one’s work.
This course would work very well as an basic introduction to portraiture, if you are considering doing a Portrait Painting Masterclass at a later stage.

The facilities
Each class is limited to 8 students working from 2 models in Sight-Size. The workshop room is located within the main school of The London Atelier of Representational Art. Each model is lit with individual professional photographic lighting, which provides a steady, unchanging environment from which to observe all elements of portrait drawing.
The end result
You will have created a carefully observed and realistic portrait from life. You will be familiar with the fundamentals of portrait drawing. These are transferable skills which you will be able to apply to your personal work.
