Positive Behavioural Support
This training was developed by Professor David Allen and Dr Sarah Hawkins from behavioural psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis techniques which operate on the understanding that all behaviour is purposeful or functional for the individual. By determining the function and/or purpose of an undesirable behaviour Positive Behavioural Support allows staff to redirect the behaviour in a more appropriate way whilst still fulfilling its original function.
Functional Analysis is a key component in Positive Behavioural Support. By acquiring an understanding of behaviour patterns - how they are triggered or emerge, how they develop and cease - staff can devise better methods of pre-empting the behaviour or of curtailing its development before any crisis is reached.

Training is delivered via two day workshops.
