The course will build upon previous knowledge and help learners to expand their Chinese Mandarin vocabulary and build confidence. It will also explore Chinese culture through the language. Each week students will focus on a different topic/grammar structure and work towards improving their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

About this course
The course is for learners who have completed a beginners Chinese Mandarin course or who have a basic level of Chinese Mandarin aquired through self-study.
A basic knowledge of Chinese Mandarin is essential and some experience reading the alphabet would be very helpful.

How will I learn?
Learners will learn through a variety of activities, such as practical role-plays, language games, audio and visual activities, flashcards and teacher-led activities.
How will my progress be monitored and assessed?
Your tutor will continually observe and support you and give you regular feedback about your progress. You will compile a simple porfolio as evidence of your learning.

Purchasing a course text book is strongly advisable. Your tutor will advise you of the best book at the start of the course
What other support is available?
Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify. The topics covered include:
A variety of topics will be covered including: daily routine, writing letters, talking about your family and Mandarin Chinese cooking. The course will also look at a number of grammar points such as past and present form and adjectives.
