You will cover a number of topics, such as likes and dislikes, family, Japanese cooking, and learn to construct sentences using past and present verbs and adjectives. By the end of the course you will be able to describe past, present and future activities and include adjectives and time phrases to make your writing/conversations more colourful.

About this course
Post-beginners
It would be advantageous to have completed a beginner’s Japanese course and/or have a basic knowledge of Japanese verbs and adjectives. It would also be helpful to read hiragana and katakana. Though it is not essential.

How will I learn?
You will learn through role-plays, group activities, flashcards, songs and short language-learning DVDs.
How will my progress be monitored and assessed?
Your progress will be monitored by weekly reviews, which include a weekly kanji and hiragana/katakana test. You will also be assessed as you complete an accredited task booklet and receive written feedback.

The next step is Japanese Improvers Conversation.
What equipment or materials will I need to provide?
You are kindly requested to pay a £5.00 fee for photocopying and the cost of reproducing the course booklet/textbook. This is payable to the reception desk when you come for your first lesson. You will receive the course booklet at this time.
What other support is available?
Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify. For further details please ask when enrolling.
The topics covered include:
Likes and dislikes, hobbies, family, making comparisons, requests, refusals, etc. We cover a new grammar topic each week and expand on the knowledge you gain each week.
