About this course

You’ll learn to research and think critically, while building skills in picture editing, colour grading, compositing, motion graphics, sound design and audio mixing. Working in our collaborative environment, you’ll learn to create, work and negotiate with others, and master post-production software like Avid Media Composer, ProTools, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
You’ll study in a first-class, industry- mirroring facility and be taught by a technical, craft and academic team of post-production specialists. You’ll develop high-level skills and professional qualifications in picture editing, colour grading, compositing, motion graphics, sound design and audio mixing, mastering post-production software such as Avid Media Composer, ProTools, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere and After Effects.

Gain recognised industry certifications as part of the course, giving you the edge on your peers.

Placement and internship opportunities are embedded in the course, enabling you to fully engage with the post-production industry whilst you study, providing invaluable experience and contacts for your future career in this booming industry.

Course programme

1st Year

Bootcamp modules will introduce you to essential post-production processes, techniques, workflows and software, including audio and picture editing, DIT, picture grading, audio design, Foley, compositing, and basic visual effects and broadcast technology. You’ll also learn about the art and craft of editing, communication, visualisation and the post-production industry, while collaborating with students from across the School of Film & Television. On top of this, the year includes first-level industry-recognised certification across a range of software products like Avid, Adobe and ProTools.

2nd Year

You’ll specialise in either image editing and colour manipulation or audio design and sound mixing, developing professional skills through challenge-based technical and craft projects. This includes advanced industry-recognised certification across a range of software products like Avid, Adobe and ProTools. And like year one, you’ll collaborate with students from across the School of Film & Television.

3rd Year

You’ll have the opportunity to go on professional and industry-based placements throughout the year, with regular (remote online) mentoring from technical tutors. Critically reflecting on your experience, you’ll produce a piece of assessed written work. You could also have the chance to go on placements in post houses, production companies, and our in-house agency MAYN. Alternatively, you could work on our in-house micro-budget features and graduate productions.
