There will be an intense and interactive two day introduction to the four modules to be studied. In addition there will be two seminars concentrating on the research methods and preparation of assignments. This will be followed by open learning in a highly structured and directed fashion to allow you to fit your studies around your current work role. The diploma will require 3-4 hours of independent study per week. Attendance at the PEEL Club is a perfect complement to the diploma as it allows a 'community' dimension to discuss related aspects and share best practice. Suitable for: Suitable for HR Professionals, this is a continuation from the Postgraduate Certificate in Employment Law.

About this course

A good working knowledge of HR and Employment Law and the equivalent of 60 credits towards a Masters Degree in Employment Law. This is not required if already on the Certificate of Employment Law.

The modules contained in the Postgraduate Diploma in Employment Law will develop students’ critical skills by examining current issues within employment law through the consideration of a number of theoretical models.

Completion of the Diploma provides 60 credits at Masters Level.

The overall aim of the Postgraduate Diploma in Employment Law is to study and evaluate the impact legislation of both from the UK and EU has upon the work of senior HR professionals.

The course continues your development, providing further tools for relating employment law to the practicalities of the workplace, and beyond, at a senior level

The Diploma will be delivered en bloc over six weekends at three week intervals. The first four weekends will cover the 20 credit modules and the fifth and sixth weekend will cover the two 10 credit modules.

Module One distinguishes itself from the work-based scenario modules by exploring and evaluating contemporary employment law aspects within the United Kingdom and contrasting them with other jurisdictions. This module provides the students with an opportunity to develop their knowledge beyond the legal rules of employment law by considering the theoretical works of highly regarded writers.

Module Two covers European Union Employment Law module which evaluates the legal rules regulating the EU and analysing the personnel and processes involved in making EU social policy legislation.

Module Three draws upon both EU law and the labour market but within a global context by introducing students to regulation theory and practice in a universal labour market.

Module Four provides the students with the necessary skills to carry out and produce a research proposal which the student may draw upon when preparing for the Dissertation module.
