The programme is articulated around two courses of each 10 ECTS:
- Comparative study of the social security systems
- Social security law, policy & economics

Each course includes 30 contact hours; each course will have to be prepared before coming to the summer school; readers to that effect will be prepared and put at the disposal of students two months in advance. Each course will also include a take home exercise that will have to be handed in within two months. The programme includes 2 exams, which will be taken at the end of the summer school. The postgraduate diploma of the Summer School will be awarded after successful completion of the two exams and the two exercises.

Course programme

Participants are able to take part in any scientific debate concerning (on a good multidisciplinary and comparative basis) social security issues.
Participants develop a common understanding of the main concepts and techniques relevant for the social security area whereby they will learn to put their national/monodisciplinary approach in a broader perspective by including other relevant (mono)disciplines and abandoning a merely national view.

Participants are able to identify and interpret evolutions in social security in the light of the existing legal, sociologic and economic issues at stake.

Participants are able to independently analyse a social security problem and formulate solutions, both orally and by written.
