Pre-Bachelor Policing

Course Content This course consists of a number of compulsory modules covering a range of topic areas such as:

• law and legal framework, operational policing and criminal justice
• human rights, and equality and diversity
• community policing, which includes themes such as youth work, domestic abuse, child protection, drug action teams and inter-agency work
• response and investigation
• officer safety training, which includes conflict resolution and defensive tactics
• Work placements

There are two practice placement modules undertaken in Year 1 and Year 2. Each practice placement lasts for eight weeks, during which you work alongside regular police officers and have one-to-one support from a tutor constable. Attendance patternCurrently the modules for the course are delivered between Wednesday and Friday each week during the first semester. The second semester includes the practice placement, after which you will attend for one day per week.
