Course programme

The focus of this Pre-Employment Programme is to develop learners work related skills in a safe and controlled environment that enables early achievement of a sustainable job in Rail Engineering.

The Programme combines industry specific Employability Support, NVQ Competency Units and Employer Specific Training which enable learners to gain meaningful employment in a range of entry level roles within Rail industry.

Learners are able to develop their knowledge and understanding of Rail Engineering and get the opportunity to apply their learning and new skills in a work related context.

After the initial intensive skills intervention (6 weeks) learners and their employers have the opportunity to continue their learning in employment.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • C&G NVQ Units – Level 2 Rail Engineering Track Maintenance
  • C&G Level 2 Certificate in Rail Engineering
  • Employability Support (Sentinel NCCA CV writing)
  • Work Experience (Practical)
  • Network Rail Medical (D&A)
  • Personal Track Safety
  • Track Induction, CSCS Cards or LUCAS Ticket (subject to Employer / Sponsor)



Includes Network Rail PTSTIC licences. Designed for anyone seeking to work on Network Rail controlled Infrastructure
