Assessments of speaking skills progress from group presentations on personal / cultural topics to research based academic seminars.

• Writing skills (in class tests , coursework)

Assessment of writing skills progress from writing short texts on personal / cultural topics with a reasonable degree of accuracy and organisation to research-based open-book assessments where students research and are expected to demonstrate use of academic conventions such as referencing and avoiding plagiarism, while also demonstrating a good command of grammar and vocabulary skills.

• Listening skills (in class tests)

Assessment of listening skills progress from listening to short texts on personal/ cultural topics to understanding organisation, gist and details in academic lectures.

• Reading skills (in class tests)

Assessment of reading skills progress from understanding simple texts on personal/ cultural topics to demonstrating awareness of organisation of texts and distinguishing main points from sub-points.
