Course programme

Artistic director: Ernst Meisner

Classical ballet is a discipline which requires years of intensive training, which is why the The Preliminary Dance Course offers a seven year training for children aged ten years and upwards.

The preparatory training of the Dutch National Ballet Academy and the preparatory training for theatre dance together, the 5 o'clock class, form the Theaterschool's dance preliminary training. The Dutch National Ballet Academy works closely with the Olympia elementary school and the Gerrit van der Veen Comprehensive School in Amsterdam to provide an academic education within an integrated schedule.

Besides classical lessons, depending on the year group, there are lessons in world dance, improvisation, music, point technique, caractère, modern dance and jazz dance.
