The Preparatory Course for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at London School of Business & Finance in Singapore will develop students' level of English to a standard recognised by universities across the world. Students must achieve an appropriate score on an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination to study on an undergraduate or postgraduate course in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and numerous other English-speaking countries.

About this course

"17 years old and above

Students wishing to take the IELTS normally or wish to gain a certain band score for entry purposes.

Upon arrival, students will meet with a senior member of our staff to ensure that they are being placed in the appropriate level in order for the student to meet their learning objectives.

Placement Test
A placement test is administered at the Admissions Office upon the students’ arrival in Singapore. Students will be informed of the respective levels they qualify for within one day of the test.

Course programme

"These classes provide clear and practical information on the IELTS examination, as well as step by step guidance with each task type. Students are prepared for the test by exposing them to the types of texts and tasks that are required in the IELTS test, as well as the level and style of language used in the test. In addition, it prepares students for their studies at university by introducing them to the types of communication tasks which are likely to be met in an English speaking study environment. Speaking Listening General reading Academic writing On induction students are given a section from the reading, writing, speaking and listening from the IELTS exam. This will act as a benchmark and give guidance to students on areas for improvement. At regular intervals students are given full practice IELTS tests which will be fully graded and returned to the students for feedback. Students will be required to keep a reflective journal and will be given work to complete outside of class. Students that are having difficulties making the expected progression will be reported in the logs and given supplemental material and additional support."
