Preparing for the Life in the UK Test (online Course)

Who is this course for?

This course is for people who are finding the "Life in the United Kingdom: A guide for new residents" book difficult to understand and want help understanding and preparing for the Life in the UK test for British citizenship or settlement in the UK.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

The course is for people who are studying ESOL Entry 3 or above, alternatively English Level B1 or above. They also need good computer skills. You will need a computer and Internet at home or access to it.

What will I study ?

This is a new blended course. This means that most of the lessons are studied at home, using the Internet. Study can be at any time and at any place, as long as there is Internet access. There will also be regular online contact with your teacher and classmates. In addition to online study, there are 4 normal lessons in the classroom during the 12 week course. The course will include learning and preparing projects about; British traditions and culture, the history of the UK and British government, laws and your role in the community There is also an opportunity to practise and improve your English and learn new IT skills. In weeks 1, 4, 8 and 11 you will come to the Southgate Campus from 16:30-18:00. The rest of the course will be online

How will I be assessed ?

There is no final examination because students are assessed continuously over the course. This is preparation for Life in the UK test.

How do I join the course ?

You can enrol online or at college.

Will I need an interview ?

No. Remember you need to be studying ESOL Entry 3 or above, alternatively English Level B1 or above and have good computer skills.
