Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector - PTLLS Level 3 Open College North West

Course Aims:
This qualification is open to all new in service, pre service and pre employment teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector or suitably qualified people who wish to enter the profession. It is an introductory programme aimed at providing a basic minimum standard for everyone entering the teaching profession.

Course Content:
The qualification comprises the following study and activities:

- An initial assessment of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills and commencement of the Professional Development Portfolio

- 30 hours of class contact with a requirement for additional study (private reading, preparation for formative and summative assessment activities)

- Teaching practice for a minimum of one hour (micro and mini teach activity within the study group)

- Observation of other practitioners (1 hour)

Progression:
Trainees who meet all of the entry requirements may progress as follows:

- Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) - Associate Lecture Role

- For undergraduate entrants; The Certificate in Education Post Compulsory (Full Award)

Qualification:

Level:
The qualification is made up of a single 6 credit module at Level 3.

Duration:
3 hours per week for 10 weeks.
