About this course

You must be aged over 19 and have lived in the EU for the past three years and currently, be living in England. There is a short initial assessment to complete to ensure the course is the right level for you.If you are aged 19-24 you must already hold a full level 2 qualification.

Year 1

The qualification consists of the following nine mandatory units:
1: Principles of communication
2: Principles of personal development
3: Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion
4: Principles of safeguarding and protection
5: Introduction of duty of care
6: Understand the role of a social care worker
7: Understand person-centred approaches
8: Understand health and safety
9: Understand how to handle information

This qualification usually takes 12 weeks to complete.

Additional information

You will receive a resource pack containing four textbooks and four workbooks with submission dates for each part. You are assessed on the answers you supply within the workbooks. This is a knowledge-based course and you will receive feedback on your answers and guidance on how to complete any resubmissions you might have. This could be via post or email. There are no observations or exams.
