Why study this course?
The course adopts an enquiry-based approach to learning, building your skills and deepening your knowledge and understanding through self-directed study. You will work independently and as part of a team, collaborating in study groups, assessments and in early professional practice with fellow students.
You will be given a firm grounding in all National Curriculum subjects and choose a specialism from Literacies and Language, Maths and Sciences, Arts, or Humanities. You will be encouraged to read, discuss and question current policy and practice and make links between educational theory and practice. In your final year, you will research and write a dissertation on a topic of your choice.
Real-world experience
We encourage our students to approach this course as if it were a job. Working nine to five throughout much of the course, most of your learning will involve practical work in diverse schools and settings with children from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and across the spectrum of needs. You will become an expert communicator, creating a positive, safe environment and a first-class educational experience for the children you work with.
Where it can take you
Employment prospects for our graduates are excellent. Successful completion demonstrates that you have all the personal and professional attributes required to become a member of the teaching profession.
