About this course

Course Benefits Excellent preparation for studying a PGCE or other teacher training routes in Primary Physical Education.Gain teaching, coaching and volunteering experience in the UK or abroad in the USA, Africa or Australia.The opportunity to achieve a Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Level 2) and NGB Coaching awards.

Typically, our entry offer for this degree course is 112 UCAS tariff points.
Other requirements: For the old GCSE system we require grade C or above and for the new GCSE grading system we will accept grade 4 or higher in English Language and Maths.  GCSE Science is usually preferred but not essential.
​We welcome students with a wide range of qualifications such as A Levels, BTECs and accredited Access courses.  We treat every application on its own merits; we value highly the experience you illustrate in your personal statement.

Course Information You will be supported to build your own volunteering and coaching portfolio alongside your degree in settings within local community sports clubs, professional clubs, schools and university student teams. All students will have the opportunity to achieve a Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Level 2) plus many other sports coaching awards. You will be taught by experts who have industry experience and are currently doing their own research, so that you are kept up-to-date with the latest developments in coaching and education. You will learn in a variety of different ways and a large amount of your degree is practical-based. This will provide you with real-life experiences where you can apply theory to practice, which will prepare you well for your chosen career when you graduate. The practical components of your degree will be very handy for being the physical education subject specialist teacher in a primary school and the ability to plan lessons will put you on the front foot when planning across the wider curriculum on a teacher training course.
