This course, available as a Postgraduate Certificate (Level 7) and as a Professional Graduate Certificate (Level 6), supports you in your professional development as a teacher. Credits taken at postgraduate level can be transferred to a Master's course such as an MA Education.

Course programme

Year 1

Students are required to study the following compulsory modules.

  • Primary Professional Development One: Making an impact on teaching and learning (Level 7) (30 credits)
  • Primary Professional Development Two: Making an impact on a school priority (Level 7) (30 credits)
  • Work-Based Learning for Professional Development (60 credits)

We focus on your classroom practice and develop your impact on whole-school improvement. You will develop the ability to synthesise your current experience with new information and create innovative solutions to school-based problems. You'll also learn to evaluate your experience and develop your own personal vision of education, teaching and learning.

Our expert lecturers will help you form positive relationships with children and young people, as well as their careers, tutors and other professionals. Graduates of this course go on to develop their careers in education to middle and senior management opportunities.
