This course is ideal for beginners and experienced printmakers. You will follow a range of topics and learn now techniques through group tuition and individual work. Some drawing skills would be useful for this course.
Information about the courseTo learn about printmaking and the print making studio.
Course contentIntroduction to a print studio environment to cover general layout, safe use of equipment and materials (covering all health and safety requirements.
Identification of printmaking process.
Introduction to tools and materials.
Relief and Intaglio techniques to be covered and some of the following will be covered in this and subsequent courses: linocut, monoprint, collagraph, dry point, etching, screen print.
Working with project briefs from various subjects to build a portfolio.
Appreciation of the work of relevant historical and contemporary artists.
The course content may vary according to which tutor is teaching the course, also the content may be adapted to meet the needs of the class.
AdditionalityYou will need to bring the following equipment with you:
sketchbooks, photos, postcards, pencils, coloured pencils and an apron.
Extra costs will be incurred during the course for materials such as lino, zinc and copper.
AssessmentContinuous informal assessment and discussion of work with peers. This is a leisure course and does not lead to a qualification.
