The sounder is a specialized operator in the civil engineering sector. Its activity includes the direct prospecting of the subsoil, or probes in the subsoil in order to take samples and the execution of appropriate physical measurements, mechanical or hydraulic tests on the various layers of soil analyzed, anchors of all kinds, injections of cement or of other products for the purpose of consolidating or waterproofing soil or rocks. The probe for these purposes can also use a specific machine. The sounder can also deal with oil and natural gas wells; by oil wells we mean an oil well, therefore a long hole made in the subsoil with decreasing diameters.
