The University of Greenwich BEng Product Design and Development Engineer Degree Apprenticeship allows apprentices to develop and understand all stages of product creation, product modification and product component. They support activities ranging on early concept feasibility, Computer Aided Design and other modelling, activities and stages through to final preparation for launch and customers. This includes working in concept studios, rapid prototyping, assembly, and testing, validating and analysing performance. Typically they work closely with suppliers and managers in bring new concepts to life or contributing to redesigns of existing products.The aim of the programme is to produce Product Design and Development Engineers who are capable of making a real contribution to their employer on commencing their roles. It will equip apprentices with key skills and knowledge, including:Able to operate effectively as a product design and development engineer, within the multidisciplinary engineering environment of an automotive, manufacturing or other advanced engineering based company who is able to benefit. Develop your awareness of the relationship between theory and practice and the ability to adapt their approach to solve complex technical problems quickly and competently with known technology and to design creatively sustainable products, processes or systems. A real workplace learning pedagogy in order to develop the competences required by employers. Behavioural skills to engage effectively with staff all levels in the organisation. Support you in becoming an engineer who possesses appropriate awareness, knowledge and understanding of the economic, social and environmental context of the automotive/manufacturing industry in order to evaluate the consequences of their professional practice.
