Course programme
You will typically work on three design projects each semester with a focus on a particular skill or topic in each. In the first year the projects are designed to teach the core skills required to be a practicing designer, which are built on through the second and third year.
Working with industry means you will receive lots of feedback on your work throughout the course, and communicating with clients helps build your confidence in presenting.
Whilst you are expected to manage your time more independently in the second and third years, we retain the amount of staff contact time throughout the three years, to ensure you get the best possible support and experience.
Typical contact sessions in the studio include practical demonstrations, group or individual critiques to discuss your work, team activities, seminars and presentations. You will also attend lectures from visiting designers, and our contextual studies team, as well as practical software tutorials.
Independent study is essential in developing and sustaining a professional approach to work. Self-motivation and time management skills are an important part of your education and experience, and this independent practice forms the basis for ongoing student learning.
