About this course

It is recommended that candidates have achieved a minimum of two GCSE's at grades C - D or above in Maths, Science or English based subjects or an equivalent qualification or suitable industrial experience. Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment. Candidates must be in current employment in a relevant production or manufacturing environment.

    One day per week is the minimum requirement to support the Technical Certificate although additional days can be included depending on the training needs of the business or individual. A full time off the job provision is also available if required.
Production and Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship Entry Requirements

Content
This will develop practical mechanical engineering skills including turning, milling grinding and fitting associated with manual or CNC industrial applications to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed to meet National Standards at NVQ level 2.

The Technical Certificate will provide the underpinning knowledge to support the candidates training and development, covering such things as engineering materials, science, maths, processing and manufacturing principles.

Assessment
Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments. Assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ 2 in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.

Progression
Once complete candidates can progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Framework
  • Initial Training - Requires three units from the PEO if not completed as the NVQ
  • Technical Certificate - An appropriate Level 2 award such as the, Progression Award in Applying Engineering Principles
  • Key Skills - Application of Number Level , Communication Level 1, Information Technology Level 1, Working With Others Level 2 and Improving Own Learning Level 2
  • NVQ Level 2 Qualification - Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or Performing Engineering Operations
