Course description Summary: This course is for people who are interested in working within the performing arts and creative industries in the technical and design areas Course description: You will become a working member ofPlatform Productions, which is a theatre company based here at college. You will become the backbone of the theatre company through the creative design and smooth operation of shows which are open to the public. To view recent productions check CCN Platform YouTube. Units available on the course include: - Production workshop - Performing arts business - The historical context of performance - Production arts planning - Production for theatre performance - Theatre front of house operations - Arts administration - Assistant stage management - Deputy stage management - Stage management - Stage technology installation - Stage technology operations - Stage lighting operations - Stage sound operations - Live sound for the stage - Working freelance in the performing and production arts - Legal aspects in performing and production arts On this course, you learn by completing projects and some written assignments that are completed only while working on realistic workplace situations, to enable you to gain the experience needed to pursue a career in the production industries. You will spend approximately eighteen hours a week either at college or at The Garage having taught sessions by your tutors. You will be expected to match this time with their own preparation, research and homework per week. During production periods you will be expected to spend more time at the College, including evenings and weekends in order to undertake and keep to rehearsal and planning schedules. The college's state of the art facilities include a 200 seated theatre with an excellent lighting and sound system and rehearsal space.

You will also be expected to attend an interview workshop day, where they will be required to participate in practical activities, prepare and perform a short presentation and undertake a short interview. 4.
