The Professional Barteending qualification has been developed by City College Plymouth and Bar Experts, in conjunction with City & Guilds and Plymouth Gin. This hands on, practical course is designed to develop skilled and experienced bartenders. Working behind a fully equipped training bar at Plymouth Gin, you will learn how to use the correct equipment, accurately free pour and blend those perfect cocktails. At the end of this course, you will be able to wow your customers with your expert skills.

You may progress to various other professional development courses.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, candidates should have some knowledge of bartending and cocktails.

Duration: Eight days training including assessment

Course Overview
What does the course involve?:

The course is designed to provide knowledge and skills training to professional bartenders working in the industry, and focuses on the eight following learning outcomes:

1. accurately free pour

2. select and use equipment

3. display cocktail making techniques

4. display knowledge of cocktail specifications

5. beers, wines and spirits preparation

6. prepare bar and deliver service

7. display knowledge of spirits

8. display knowledge of responsible serving of alcohol.

The course lasts for eight days and is a combination of practical skills training and taught sessions.

Various days - 10.00am to 5.30pm

Are there any exams?:
Achievement of this course is assessed by the following:

1. short answer question paper

2. free pour test

3. drinks making and finding exercise.
