You should hold a UK first degree or equivalent and relevant work experience in the are you teach.

You should normally be in paid employment, as a teacehr or trainer, for a minimum of 50 hours per year at a recognised training or educational establishment.  Voluntary teaching / training may also be acceptable in some circumstances, subject to DBS clearance.  In all circumstances; you are required to identify a work-based mentor who can support you in your subject specialism.
